Happy almost 4th of July!!! Next Monday, America the Beautiful will be celebrating its 240th Independence Day. That sounds crazy old, but then I think of a country such as Egypt, and realize that the United States is actually baby of a nation. I have been in the stages of planning the red, white, and blue festivities for weeks now. There will be strawberry, blueberry, and white wine sangria involved. Sprinkle dipped Rice Krispie treats will make an appearance. And a flag shaped fruit platter will be the life of the party!
Now for what to wear! When pools, the beach, BBQing, bike riding, parade watching, and fireworks launching are all in the agenda, I need something versatile, lightweight, and patriotic (duh) to wear. This red and white plaid romper from Old Navy (sold out) is hands down my favorite summer essential that I purchased this season. I am obsessed with the saturation of the color, the draw-string waist, and the overall fit. Also, this denim Madewell jacket is a basic that my wardrobe was desperately lacking. I was on the hunt for a denim jacket that was fitted and this shade of blue! What I was aiming for in this holiday look was that it can be worn all summer, not just stars and stripes for the 4th of July!

For the kingdom is the LORD’S And He rules over the nations.
This 4th of July is quite different than the previous Independence Days I have experienced. Our country is in a state of political unrest with a Presidential election less than 6 months away. With an unknown future of our government, I have to focus on what I know is true; that the United States is a part of the Lord’s Kingdom, and he rules over EVERY nation. Regardless of who becomes our next president, we are to surrender to Jesus Christ because He is the one who is making decisions in Heaven for His purpose.
Have a blessed week!
